The truth of chess lies in the fact that the name of the game is tactics. In order to become a better chess player one must be able to comprehend and solve tactical situations which arises. Therefore it is my advice that the first and the most importantly one improves his/her tactical ability. For tactical understanding one must do the following:
1. "See" the correct calculation. Tarrasch, a brilliant tactician once said, "You must see!" With practice, you will learn to quickly "see" tactical combinations.
2. Try to see just one move ahead. This is the main problem with novice players who always tend to have missed a counter attack by the opponent at the end of their combination
